Bishop's Move are taking the first steps to understand their Carbon Footprint, starting with the impact of individual moves. Working closley with carbon consultants, CLevel, they are identifying ways to reduce this as part of CLevel’s Carbon Balanced approach.
Nicki Chamarette, Marketing Manager at Bishop's Move, commented: "We are delighted to be able to offer our customers the option to carbon balance their removal. They can rest assured that the money will go towards the highest quality projects to ensure outstanding local and real world benefits. We are proud to have have teamed up with such an established yet innovative company as CLevel. "
Bishop's Move, the largest privately owned removal company in the UK, are instrumental in offering their customers the chance to help minmise the impact of moving. Their research has shown that an average UK removal generates 150kg of CO2 from fuel consumption alone with the cost of balancing these emissions at just over £2. The Carbon compensation or ‘offsetting’ is being delivered through a mix of CLEVEL’s reforestation and fuel efficient cook stoves projects.
CLevel's carbon compensation project in Uganda is targeted at replacing deforested zones within key national parks to deliver certified CO2 uptake and full restoration of vital ecosystems alongside creating part and full time employment opportunities.
Their ‘energy technology’ compensation project is an alternative option providing communities with long term cash savings and health benefits, concentrating on cooking stoves made by pottery co-operatives, to reduce fuel wood and indoor smoke pollution.
