Few things in life are as stressful as moving home, and finding an expert is the key. The removal company you choose should be willing to listen to what you are looking for, and once they are clear what you want them to do, you can sit back and let them do the worrying.
We have put together these guidelines to help you decide which removal company to choose when you move home, and the questions to ask them before you make your final decision. With this little extra knowledge, you will hopefully have the confidence to question and query what they can offer, and make your move a smooth one.
CHOOSING YOUR REMOVAL COMPANY
- Ask about removal companies amongst your friends, that way you are likely to get an honest recommendation
- A removal company should send a representative to your home before your move in order to put a realistic quote together and see access points
- Ensure the removal company you choose is a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR).
- Make sure that the company you choose has adequate insurance cover.
- It is advisable to ask whether the removal operatives are fully trained, such as with B.A.R.T.S. who are affiliated to The British Association of Removers.
- Ask if they will provide packing cases of different sizes to suit your move, and whether they will collect the empty cases from your home after the move.
- Or you can ask if they will pack and wrap your possessions and unpack them for you at your new home.
- It is useful to find a company that has a storage facility in case there is a delay in your move, or if you don’t want all your property sent to your new home.
